Google Ads

Google Ads (formerly Google AdWords) is an online advertising platform developed by Google, where advertisers bid to display brief advertisements, service offerings, product listings, or videos to web users. It can place ads both in the results of search engines like Google Search and on non-search websites, mobile apps, and videos. Services are offered under a pay-per-click pricing model.

My role at Google:

  • Interaction designer at Google.

  • Worked on the next version of Adwords.

  • Lead designs in the areas of user management, preferences, MCC, and notifications.

  • Worked on material design with a focus on web components.

  • I worked on the Core UX AdWords team with 11 other designers.

Adwords account access:

  • Console to manage users and managers who have access to a particular account.

  • Send and accept invitations or link requests.

  • Give new access to users, change permissions, accounts.

How did the UI look like?

Design goals:

  • Gather users into one interface.

  • Introduce a manager's view.

  • The same interface should work for small, medium, large or uber (MCC) advertisers.

  • Two-quarters timeline.

First iterations.

“I love this, it tells me exactly what this hierarchy is, that’s awesome.”

“It’s pretty easy, it’s intuitive.”

“It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.”
